SOME ITEMS TO SEND THE SOLDIERS

  • Anything that reminds them of home is much more desirable than shaving cream!  Especially sport team items, including college teams. Caps, pennants, photos, posters, Girl Scout cookies, post cards, local newspapers.
  • Zip-loc type bags.  Sand gets into everything!  If you secure your items in sealed bags it keeps rain and sand off them, and, the troops will certainly re-use the bags for the same reasons.
  • Lotion for dry skin (it's VERY dry out there)
  • Microwaveable foods  (including mac & cheese, or pancake mix that only needs water)
  • Cereals of all kinds
  • Snacks of any kinds - candy, gum, pretzels, cookies, chips, nuts
  • Kool-Aid, Power Aid, & other powdered mixes (to improve the "less than appealing" taste of their water)
  • New music CD's from the last 8 months
  • Current magazines – sports, news, travel, etc.
  • Coffee!
  • AAA, AA & 9V batteries for CD players and other electronics
  • Some need small pillows and small blankets, knit hats (dark colors)
  • Twizzlers are asked for often, as are mixed nuts, and Beef Jerky
  • New music CD's from the last 8 months
  • One-time use, disposable cameras
  • Games, playing cards, puzzles (crossword, SUDUKO, etc)
  • DVD movies -  current or classics
  • Sunscreen
  • Bath & body lotions for the females are a big hit!
